Safety and Loss Prevention

Loss Prevention and Safety Engineering Philosophy & Key Services
loss prevention is a multidisciplinary approach to managing risks and preventing losses in various industries. It involves identifying and mitigating potential hazards, implementing safety measures, and ensuring compliance with regulations to protect people, assets, and the environment. The core principles of LOSPE include the following:

Hazard Identification Study (HAZID):

HAZID is a design-enabling tool, acting to help organize the health, safety, and environmental deliverables in a project. The structured brainstorming technique typically involves designer and client personnel, engineering disciplines, project management, commissioning, and operation.

Hazard and operability studies (HAZOP):

Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) study is a structured and systematic examination of a planned or existing process or operation in order to identify potential hazards operability issues in process (Hazard and Operability Analysis) and to propose preventing actions.

Safety integrity level (SIL) assessments:

Safety Integrity is measure by the correct performance of safety function which are used to return the system to a safety state. This state can be quantified using Safety Integrity Levels.
Risk Matrix, Risk graph and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) are methods available in the industry to measure the SIL.

Safety and environmental considerations

Ensuring that the process adheres to stringent safety standards and minimizes environmental impact.

There are two basic elements associated with this measure i.e..

Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment (FERA):

FERA Study is a structured & systematic process to identify & assess risks from fire and explosion hazards.

Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA):

QRA is a formalized tool for assessing the risk exposure to employees, the environment, company assets and its reputation.
